Plan realistically and deliver faster
Let's be honest: reliable planning is a difficult issue for many production companies. The availability of material and capacity (people and machines) must be taken into account, which are highly variable. And that is precisely where Odoo is taking an important step in the new version. We list the most important ones for you, and above all: what they mean for you.
Capacity per employee
In Odoo 20, the schedule gives you an immediate overview of the workload assigned to each employee. Unscheduled work orders are clearly visible and can easily be dragged to the right time slot and the right person. The result: a fair distribution of work and a schedule that aligns with staff availability.
Plans for the first free period
If you click "Plan," Odoo 20 identifies the earliest moment when the workstations are actually available. Scheduling is determined by actual capacity rather than a theoretical start date, allowing you to provide customers with delivery times you can actually meet. Do you use the Just-In-Time principle? You can still schedule just as you did in previous versions.
Planning with AI
Scheduling work orders is a complex and time-consuming task, given the many variables involved—making it an ideal area to leverage AI. AI is increasingly being integrated into Odoo; in version 20, an AI assistant assigns work orders to employees based on their skills and availability. This saves the planner time and ensures that skilled expertise is deployed where it is needed most.
